Tuning

How often should I tune my skis?

A full tune at the start of every season. Then wax every few days on snow, and sharpen edges when they start to skid on hard snow. Hit a rock? Bring them in right away.

What's the difference between a wax and a tune?

A wax helps your skis glide. A full tune also grinds the base flat, sharpens the edges and detunes the tips and tails. If you only do one thing before the season, do a full tune.

Is the tune the same at every tier?

Yes. Good, Better and Best all get the full tune. You're choosing how fast you get your skis back. Best also adds a hand finish and a binding check.

Booking & timing

Do I need an appointment?

Tune & Brew needs a booked slot. Good and Better can be booked online or dropped off any time during shop hours.

How will I know my skis are ready?

We text you the moment they're done. Your pickup date is set when you book.

What if I can't pick them up on time?

Reply to your text and we'll hold them for you.

When do you get busy?

Thanksgiving through early January, and the days before any big storm. Book early in those weeks.

Tune & Brew

How does Tune & Brew work?

Book an hour, hand us your skis at the counter, and wait in the Baldy Brewery taproom. We text you when they're done, in under an hour.

Can I bring my kids, or I'm under 21?

The tune is the same either way. Grab a soda or something from the food truck while you wait.

Is the shop part of the brewery?

We share the building with Baldy Brewery, but The Stickmaster is a separate shop.

Bindings & repairs

What do I need to bring for binding work?

Your ski boots, plus your height, weight, age and how aggressively you ski. We use these to set your release value.

Can you fix a core shot?

Usually. We'll look at it with you and quote before we start. If it's not worth fixing, we'll say so.
